Another week flies by and here we are again with a killer killer show today. Max Graham stops by to talk about his kick-ass remake of a 5-year-old classic “Does She Know Yet”, a track nearer and dearer to his heart than probably any of us have known before, and Hybrid is in the house to drop a WORLD PREMIER exclusive new remix of their tune “Numb”…and a mysterious annoucement.

1. Carl Craig – At Les (Christian Smith’s Tronic Treatment remix) [Tronic]
Carl Craig is legend – one of the first names that got me into electronic music, back in the 90’s he was so far ahead of his time, one of his tracks from that time is being thrust back into the lime-light…and it’s awsome. Mark my words, one of the biggest tracks of the year. Christian Smith, an accomplished producer in his own right, releases this phenominal redux on his own Tronic label…it’s not to be missed.
.
2. Hybrid – Numb (Hybrid’s Kill City Sounds Mix 03) [D’stinctive]
Joining us for another installment of the Tastemaker segment, Chris Healings, one half of the UK duo Hybrid drops off this melodic gem and it’s a world premier exclusive to the show. Hybrid’s basslines will never go out of style, and they have one working perfectly here with a light melodic backdrop and some wonderfully sparse top elements. 2010 continues to be a major year for them.
.
3. Kaliber feat. Elodie – Is this for Love (Original Mix) [Mutants]
Swedish Prodigy John Dahlback has a bit of the boy-wonder in him, and it’s never more apparent than with the Kaliber releases he does every so often. Really showcasing his penchant for interesting synth-design against very techno sensibilities, some of his best work has come under the moniker. “Is This For Love” is divine, and getting new life on his artist album entitled “Mutants” which plays like a greatest hits compilation. We’re not complaining. It’s an impressive list.
.
4. Gary Beck – Elisse (Original Mix) [Bek Audio]
Gary Beck hails from Scotland and runs the label Bek Audio that this sleeper bomb is out on. What’s remarkable here is the warmth that he manages to bring in this track to a genre that can tend to be very cold and cerebral. “Elisse” is very straighforward – no brain power neccessary to feel the bassline and just groove. Superbly executed track from an up and coming producer.
.
5. Quivver – Boom Boom (Original mix) [Bedrock]
John Graham may need the occasional introduction, but his favorite moniker Quivver certainly shouldn’t. A mainstay for us here at Fresh Produce, he’s in top form on the high-profile Bedrock label with a throbbing sweaty dancefloor destroyer. It’s off the “Yeah Yeah EP” from which the title track has been getting Chart Attention…we thought this growler needed some love too.
.
6. Sun Control Species – Cheap Trick (Original mix) [Plusquam Records]
Sun Control Species is the brainchild of Australian Andrew Davidson and he’s been quietly churning out solid progressive-minded house music for the past five years . Well he really hits the nail on the head here with this release on Plusquam Records, a label bidding for a comeback. It’s got drive and drama – don’t need much more than that.
.
7. Daniel Portman – Leap of Faith (Original Mix) [Pinkstar Records]
I can’t actually believe it’s taken this long to get Mr. Portman, the Swiss Wonder, on the show but here he is finally. Leap of Faith is out on the label he had a major part in making one of the biggest in the world, Pinkstar Records. Their meteoric rise has everything to do with their “Nu Skool” brand of house that pairs chunky tech-house-like drums and basslines with the warm synthology of trance. It’s Fresh baby!
.
8. Paul Thomas & Manuel De La Mare – Imagine (Original Club Mix) [Toolroom Records]
A pairing of two huge names if you’re talking about versatile and consistently played -out producers, and it’s on one of the most influential labels of the past decade…pretty hard to miss. And they don’t. This track reminds me alot of Prydz’s remix of Faithless we recently featured, and while they don’t quite manage to steal that thunder, it’s close enough for us. Big Room track guaranteed to please.
.
9. Antillas & Carl Fath – Kyoto Nessie! (Antilla’s Dirty Club Mix) [Pink Rabbit]
Gotta save the big guns for the last of the show, and this one has me dancing in my pants. It’s rare that someone truly surprises me, and this track is exactly that. It’s a different sensibilty – very over the top but impeccably mastered drums, a frenzied organ-like chord melody…and then snap it all back to a rolling tick-tick prog beat. It walks the tightrope between the two worlds without ever sounding disjointed…and that makes this track just a might bit better than the rest. It will *kill* on the dancefloor…and like Scroobius Pip is so fond of saying, “Thou Shalt Always, Always Kill.”
.
10. Max Graham – Dusky 2010 (Does She Know Yet) [Re*brand]
Our good friend Max Graham closes out the show with a *phenominal* remake of a 5-year-old melodic classic. It’s perfectly timed too with the current trends in melody-driven music and it’s perfectly aligned with his new focus in the trancier-arena. As he explains in our full interview with him, it’s all part of his debut artist album coming out later this summer…the thought of that gets us all warm and fuzzy inside. Just like this track.
