It’s a milestone today, episode 10 – time flies when the music’s fresh! 🙂 This week I, your host, thought I would spend some quality time with y’all all by myself. Seems fitting – as I’m writing this for episode today, the sun is blazing outside, the fan is trying to whip the air cool, and dreams of pool parties and rooftops at night are swimming through my head. It’s Fresh Produce and it’s coming at you this week with heat.

Featuring music this week from Henry Saiz, EDX, Spartaque, King Unique, and the Chemical Brothers, among many others.

.

1. Glenn Morrison – No Sudden Moves [Armada Music]

Glenn Morrison was an up-and-coming nobody when this track first hit the charts three years ago, I remember it like it was yesterday. “No Sudden Moves” put this incredibly talented melodic progster on the map, and was an instant classic. It’s getting a re-release this week on Armada Music, and you really can’t blame them for trying to squeeze more life from this one – it’s got plenty more to go around.

2. Henry Saiz – The Rider [Renaissance]

Henry’s relationship with the eminent Renaissance label continues with “The Rider” EP – the title cut off this thing is one of the cleanest-sounding tracks production-wise we’ve heard this year. Fantastic arrangements and mastering, Saiz’s trademark cavern-enclosed melodies, croaking basslines…Henry Saiz continues to rule the progressive scene with benevolence.

3. King Unique – 2000000 Dubs [Bedrock]

If this track sounds familiar, then congrats, you’re paying attention 🙂 King Unique provides a twisty re-deux of his still-going-strong smash hit from earlier this year “2000000 Suns” for John Digweed’s latest mixed compilation. “Structures” continues the Bedrock geometry-inspired theme and it’s a goldmine of dark smoky and snarly techno and progressive house – plenty more on this show in the coming weeks from this compilation. But standing out on first listen is this fantastic re-interpretation of a track we’re already in love with.

4. Moonbeam – The Underwater World (Spartaque) [Traum]

For a track that almost didn’t make it past the shopping cart, this Spartaque remix of Moonbeam’s “The Underwater World”, off the same Distance EP on Traum we featured from last week, this thing is making me blush in shame. Probably the *sickest* track I’ve come across this year, it’s absolutely ridiculous bassline has instantly catapulted it into my top 10 for the year this far. It’s not flashy, it’s not epic, but it’s a dancefloor destroyer. Should be a #1 hit in the techno world, hands down.

5. Alex di Stefano – Yes or Not [binary404]

Yeah, we’re not wasting any time today cutting to the chase in case you haven’t noticed. Heavy heavy peak time stuff here, this track is the perfect alley oop – that’s a basketball cross-kick for the world cup heads out there – setting the crowd up to get knocked down. The Italian Alex di Stefano has be in all-time high demmand lately on remix duties, with work for Spektre and Anthony Pappa to name two, but he’s really flexing his big room muscles on this original. The EP also features a great rendition from Phunk Investigation.

6. P8 – In Memory of Johnny Dallash [Cr2]

Meet P8, the brainchild of incredibly talented Italian Pasquale Nuzzo – perhaps the most buzzed about producer with less than 15 tracks under his belt. This one is actually a re-release from a summer anthem last year, but it’s appearing on the truly *massive* Cr2 Ibiza 2010 compilation which is slaughtering the competition chart-wise at the moment. This track is a highlight and a pleasure to play it again, and again. Who doesn’t love a track that is one huge crescendo, right?

.

7. EDX – Premiumline (Helvetic Nerds remix) [Nero Bianco]

Whew, well we’re past the half-way mark, a little sweaty from the drinking and dancing – EDX provides the perfect summer breeze to groove to, and when it’s remixed by the almighty Helvetic Nerds, it’s pretty much irresistible. Less of the harder, chunky style that we’re used to featuring from these guys, this melodic number has more groove than drive, it’s a floaty number that highlights EDX’s penchant for what have been dubbed the “Deadmau5” synths which he executes better than their inventor. It’s out on Nero Bianco’s Big Room Hits Volume 1.

8. Ben Lb – Olympics (Spartaque remix) [Deffinitive Recordings]

Okay, break’s over – turning up the heat again is this quarter-pounder “Olympics” remixed by Spartaque, who makes his second appearance this week. Ben Lb is behind the source material, the frenchman has been making waves since his debut two years ago on Manuel de la Mare and Alex Kenji’s Hotfingers label, and the Ukranian prodigy Spartaque has really exploded into the limelight in the past couple months. It’s easy to why, these guys are making bombs, and blowing up the club will always be in demand.

9. Spooky – Little Bullet (Hollowpoint Dub) [Renaissance]

Our second redux of the day, this time Spooky offers up the dubbier more driving mix of their huge track “Little Bullet” which we featured on this very show right when it came out a few weeks ago. This hasn’t received quite as much love as it’s bigger melodic brother, but it’s nonetheless deserving and more dancefloor friendly. As always with Spooky, the melody remains in tact and the percussion is one-of-a-kind.

.

10. The Chemical Brothers – Swoon (Don Diablo remix) [unreleased]

We’re finishing the show today in true style – it’s an exclusive on a track that isn’t even out yet. It’s always an event when the Chemical Brothers, perhaps the first true Rock Stars of breaks, release an album and their 7th full length studio album lives up every bit to the hype. Exceeding it is the job of this track, by far my first favorite, “Swoon” and Don Diablo does an amazing job making it dancefloor-friendly. Don will be on the show later this summer talking about his forthcoming artist album, but in the meantime enjoy this monster track that exudes fire and energy.
