Our list of distinguished guests grows by a leap this week as Dave Seaman, founder of the gigantic Audio Therapy and globe-trotting DJ, stops by as well as one of the most exciting “new” talents on the scene Cid Inc. is on as well. Both are dropping brand-new music today. The theme is reinvention and I’ve got goosebumps just thinking about it. HUGE show!

George Andrews is perhaps best known as the man pulling strings behind Toolroom Records and laying down beats at their label-sponsored parties, but this UK native really steps a foot into the production side here with “Bad Bread”. Puuurrrfect vibe for an opener, and some really really superbly done percussion make it a standout. We’ll be watching for more from this fellow.

Writing in the studio is an arduous process, full of frustration and angst, and a duo can easily double the effect, just ask any production team. The fact that Audio Junkies is a duo of brothers is surprising in-and-of itself. But their music really has to take the cake. The siblings from Tel Aviv have been kicking around here and there on some pretty major labels for the past 3 years or so, and here they’re getting a big time release as a featured single on Audio Therapy. It’s well deserved, love the sparse vocal and the “Enigma”-type feel…it’s the mid-nineties re-packaged and re-invented. Love that such a nostalgic old-school-but-new-school track is getting so much attention.

The fast-rising microCastle continues to impress with this latest release – their penchant for hand-picking and match-making with progressive new wave is exciting, and they’re putting out track after track of this new hybrid of techno meets gritty progressive…it’s the feel of Digweed’s GU:LA, but with an updated twist that’s…shinier. More efficient. “Coronal Mass” fits in perfectly, especially Junior’s remix with maintains an impressive balance between its driving bassline and lighter fare on top. Loving it.

You have to respect a producer who maintains quality over quantity. It’s been almost 6 months since the Israeli king dropped his last original, but it was worth the wait. This has been floating around between DJ’s for a while, but it’s finally out in the open where it should be. The tension in this track is palpable; the melody line is defiantly sparse with hints of epic-ness that make you want to punch something. His production skills also continue to impress – you’re hard-pressed to find a more cleanly fat bassline. Top notch.

Well everything that Guy J tantalizingly withheld, this throws down without hesitation. We featured the original version of this one all the way back four months ago when it didn’t even have a name. Well it’s called “Homecoming” and it’s got some major remixes out including this one with input from Sasha. Fittingly, it’s a sort of restart for Charlie’s own Mayhem imprint, something we hope to see continue from this. The breakdown on this is hair-raising, and the re-done backing is amazing. Huge track that reminds us of when Progressive was grandiose.

Astrid Suryanto has always been a force to be reckoned with on her production skills alone, but her *voice* really puts her over the top for me. She’s teaming up on this one with King Britt, the other half of the East-coast crew that launched the now legendary Ovum Records. They’re joined by fellow Eastcoaster Sharam on the remix, not coincidentally one half of Deep Dish. It’s an EDM thoroughbred and it doesn’t disappoint. In fact, it’s downright old school in its composition, which fits right into the theme today. Huge track…especially that vocal from Astrid.

Another track off WOW’s “We Love Machine” album from earlier this year, they really went all-out with their remixers as we’ve seen before. Jerome Isma-ae is perhaps the biggest, at least when you’re talking about peak-time bombs. He’s taking the top slot with it on Armada’s season-ending “Ibiza Progressive Tunes” comp this year. What more can I really say about Jerome? He’s the man. Proof is in the pudding.

Another one of those people who is best known for his DJ-ing, which is a bit of an obvious statement given his impressive discography. But like a few others out there, he can make a mean track, especially when you’re doing it alongside such (classically trained) musical geniuses as Josh Gabriel. Beyond the peak-time techno grittiness, the standout here for me is the fuzzy bassline that almost comes out of nowhere. Watch for it, you’ll see what I mean.

Seems fitting to end on Josh for this episode, he’s been here and there this year, but not seen much love from us. This wistful track with a *wicked* kick, the kind that makes your hair go back every time it hits, is a perfect ender for the rowdier set…which we had today. Josh’s technical skill is matched by an unswerving ear for melody and synth selection. The track feels like a sunrise which, of course, signals not only the end of night but the beginning of day. How’s that for composition?
