So, for the next week, or so, I’m up in the Bay Area living with my parents in their “one bedroom” trailer, helping take care of my mom whilst she recovers from the surgery which is happening tomorrow morning. Early. In fact, I should definitely be asleep right now. I’ll be getting a resounding five hours of sleep.

And I use the term “one bedroom” rather loosely, considering this is a travel trailer and not a mobile home. As in, the kind of trailer that you go camping in. And there are three of us in here. Oh, and did I mention that there’s some sort of back-up with the toilet? Ya, that’s happening right now too, wafting from the bathroom conveniently three feet from my bed. Ahhh.

Granted, this travel trailer, poo-smelling situation is usually used in a temporary capacity when my mom is down here for work, or recently when my dad is down for the same…but for this week, it’s home.

It’s going to be interesting.

Mom’s surgery is a pretty hefty one; nothing life-threatening like digging around in her chest, but it does involve actually breaking and re-healing several bones and muscles in her face, so there will be a decently intense recovery period. Enter myself. Making sure she has the narcotics she needs to sleep through most of the pain, and the liquid sustenance to not starve.

It’s going to be a grand adventure, folks, and I will fill you in with more interesting and specific details tomorrow when most of the fun has happened.

In the meantime, I’m going to take a nap for five hours, and see y’all tomorrow.
