Got everything done today that I wanted to.

Boom!

Man, I’m just a few scenes, a few days, away from having this first draft of my pilot done. FINALLY. This one has definitely been a labor of love. Which, I guess makes da sense because it’s really the first drama pilot I’ve ever written 😛 But still. I did think it would be easier. But, it’s not.

There are no freaking shortcuts in this game. Jesus.

And, I fully realize it will be another, like, five or six significant drafts on this thing before it’s presentable as a piece of work…but I’m excited. I’m really feeling relief at the fundamental concept of the show. It’s something I’d honestly love to see on television. I think it would be awesome. I just want to get the actual script awesome.

It’s a bit intimidating, actually, thinking about the fact that (hopefully some day soon) this script will get me a job that leads to writing something for a TV show. The fact that I’ve been able to sit with the script for this long, really take my time and figure stuff out at my own pace, and then spend even longer refining it. That doesn’t exist in the TV world. It’s grab-and-go. And yet, my only experience, really, up to that first time, will be something that I gave myself months to write…and I’ll be in charge of writing something in the span of a couple weeks, if not days.

Sure, that’s definitely leaping ahead A LOT. There is so much work to be done before approaching that point. But, it is the goal. That is where I want to be as quickly as I can. So, I can’t help but think about it.

I also definitely believe that we are ready for things when we decide that we are ready. Sometimes that isn’t true, but for stuff like this and most other stuff, it’s absolutely true. When the time comes for me to step up and produce, I’m confident that it will be the right timing, and I will feel ready.

I also got my workout done today, which was satisfying since I didn’t have the benefit of my buddy, Matt, yelling at me to keep going. But, I did it. And I sweated big time.

The small amount of editing also got done today, and I’m set up for success tomorrow. It’s gonna happen, the biggest money month ever in my life.

Oh! And I went grocery shopping today, too, so the fridge is nice and full for the next week. Wednesdays, for some reason, seem to be a better day to do the shopping, as opposed to Sundays.

Tomorrow, it’s more of the same. Some editing, some writing, some working out, and some laundry. Then, hopefully, some movie time on the DVR. I started going through “Pacific Rim” again today, first time since seeing it in theaters, and it’s not quite as terrible as I remember. It’s more just kinda frustrating. Some script problems for me. I also have “Zathura” to check out, “The Incredibles” which is one of my favorite movies ever, “Planes” which I hear is a shit storm, “We’re the Millers” which we watched the first 15 minutes of the other night and were like “nope, don’t think so”…I also have “Ender’s Game” coming on Blu-Ray…something will tickle my fancy. We’ll see.

And then, it’s a full work day on Friday, followed by what looks like a pretty busy weekend. Pretty sure that my first day off next week will be one of those “crash” days where I do absolutely nothing. We’ll see.

That’s it for tonight. I’m posting a piece of art derived from “Ringworld” because I want it to remind me that I’d like to get that and my “Rendezvous with Rama” review posted as soon as my first draft is done. It’s time to get those up, and on to another book. That will feel wonderful.

Night bitches!
