Badass Soviet cover art tonight from Andrei Sokolov.

But, still pretty damn lazy, folks. The *difference* being that today I got my writing done, AND yesterday’s writing done. Yup. Two actual HOURS of work. It was good work too. Tightened up a few things here and there, and wrote a new scene. Or, a revised scene, anyway. It was serving a new purpose, so it was practically a new scene.

It felt good! Other than that, I really didn’t do much. Which means I’m starting this next week “behind” by half a day. We’ll see how the next two work days go, but I’m pretty damn sure I can actually make it up during them, as opposed to picking it up over my NEXT two days off. We’ll see. I’m not going to stress about it. I needed these two days off. For reals. I feel *much* better. Rejuvenated enough to throw myself back into the trenches, anyway.

I definitely don’t feel back to how good I was feeling during, oh, the second half of last year. I honestly think it’s because I’m back in the position of not having CLEAR writing goals for each week. This pilot draft has just sprawled out into “too-much-time” zone. But, I’m more than 2/3 of the way through this rewrite, and this one is going to be the one. I hope.

See, I was thinking about it as I was brushing my teeth, thinking about the advice that I have received about writing a pilot script. Firstly, it’s “you can only learn so much from one script.” Secondly, it’s “one GOOD pilot script is worth more than 10,000 mediocre ones.” A *good* script will get you a job. Here’s what I was thinking about as I was looking in that mirror, though: I’m still learning from this Icarus pilot script. A lot, in fact. I’m just not done with it yet, it’s as simple as that. I am really hoping that this latest major rewrite is sufficient, it feels like it might be, and what comes after this is tightening things up and putting a more concise polish on it. I hope. I would like to move on, and I *will* move on to the next, but just not yet.

This summer is going to be all about writing and working. The two big W’s. I’m going to enjoy it, yo. I’m thinking about trying to see a movie each week while I’m doing all that. And trying to go out and walk somewhere new on one of my days off. I feel the desire to get out a bit more, because I know it will actually help my writing and my work. It also gives me more incentive to stay focused and actually get my work DONE when it’s supposed to be. We’ll see how it goes tho. We shall see.

Anyway, I’m feeling good you guys. I needed these two days off, and I watched some movies and started The Wire, which has been super fun so far. Saw Planes: Fire & Rescue today, and they set it in Yosemite, basically, which is awesome because it was a bunch of forest and mountains that I grew up tromping around where all the action is set. It wasn’t all that great, but it *was* much better than the first film. For reals. I know, I know, I’m an adult watching what is CLEARLY a kids movie, but I’d bet you even the kids had a much better time watching this one than the first. The A’s won today, too, which was nice. No podcasting today, but this should be the last weekend that Joe is MIA, so hopefully we can get back to the regular grind.

That’s it for tonight, y’all. Full work day tomorrow after rent! And, the Ho comes home! Rejoice!
