Tonight’s artwork is unfortunately uncredited, but really cool nonetheless. Some sort of station inside an asteroid? Yes, please!

I got a half-days’ worth of work done today. I’d been hoping for a full day, but some stuff came up that needed to be dealt with, and so I did 😛

It was a bit of a spin-down day as well for the work I’ve been doing for the past three days now, a monumental three days that certainly have taken their toll on my energy reserves. But sitting here tonight, having actually DONE some work, I feel a bit more normal.

The A’s lost a wonderfully pitched game by Sonny Gray tonight at the hands of the Mariners, and we’re now officially in last place. Honestly, it’s where we belong, and it’s all due to our bullpen. It has to be the worst in all of baseball. Sonny pitched 6 innings giving up 1 run, and we were up 3 – 1 going into the 7th…where the bullpen promptly and immediately gave up two runs to tie it at 3, and then we lost in the bottom of the 10th on a walk-off first-pitch home run from LoMo. It’s been long enough now, unfortunately, where I’m afraid it’s part of our team identity. I’m fairly certain sitting here right now, that unless we’re able to trade for two top-tier relievers *without* giving up our legitimately good offense…we’ll be in the cellar with the Rangers come September. The slide just hasn’t stopped from day one…and even before the season began, Joe and I were voicing concerns that we don’t have someone in the ‘pen who can get an overpowering strikeout when you need one. Best case scenario for this team, at least my prediction, was that we were a wildcard team. That best-case is looking very, very delusional right now 😛

We’ll see what happens in the next couple weeks. I don’t see Beane standing-pat…but who do we lose? What bat/pitching combo will we have to see depart?

That’s it for tonight. I’m bushwhacked. I know I’ve said that ad nauseum this week, but it’s true 😛 More tomorrow kiddies!
