Interview w/ someone:
My grandpa told me about being hazed in college with his fraternity – they’d have to each “peaches” which were raw eggs, and they had to go and steal a chicken and got caught because the fraternity called the police on them.
A college student is inducted into a fraternity/sorority, and through their hazing routine, they convert him into a wizard and induct him into their order.

Hard science fiction book about the first lunar colony – the race to get there first, international incidents over rival bases, losing the first colony perhaps (or a rival loses theirs?), and then finally decades of success, then decline over lost interest…renewed again when we finally go to mars
Observation:
The old couple I see sometimes on my walk in the mornings
Story of couple in their 80s who still walk every day – they were explorers in their time, mountaineers. Two of the first to climb Everest, perhaps. There were the early years when they were so in love, the dark years where perhaps she was more famous than he, or he was gone too often…they got divorced, actually, and then re-married later. Had kids late. Traveled every year. Never stopped walked together. Walking is their relationship, and they will walk until they die. He dies first, on a walk. She lives a while longer, walks with his old walker, even though she doesn’t need it, so that he’s with her.
TV/Movie:

A sun-obsessed scientist follows through with his plan to ENTER our star, which he’s discovered are like volcanos – they’re an entry point into a sub-layer of space-time and can be used to travel great distances. They’re gateways. Everyone thinks he dies making his voyage, crushed and burned…but then we receive a transmission decades later. It worked.
