Crushed my writing again today. 3,091 words. Boom!

But here’s the kicker guys: I finally, FINALLY wrote good words, a scene I like! A scene that gets to stay in the final version! It’s…it’s such a relief. Honestly. I’m sure there will be many, many rough days ahead, but it’s the days like this that are worth working for, days where the work is easy, and the work is good.

Even more satisfying? I knew going into this scene it was going to be good, and it actually turned out that way. So often lately I’ve had what I thought was a good idea, only to find out once sitting down to write it that is wasn’t. I always felt like the problem in those cases was ME…that the idea was fine, I just wasn’t executing it well enough. And that is probably true to some extent, but what today showed me was more that those story ideas that didn’t turn out so well were probably flawed from the get-go. It wasn’t a matter of execution, it was a matter of inspiration.

That’s comforting to me somehow. It makes me feel like less of a failure, and makes me feel more like an excavator – I just have to keep digging and unearthing ideas, and eventually I’ll have a complete picture. I just have to keep at it.

And keep at it I will.

I worked out today with the Ho. It was intense. I’m in poor shape. But…have to start somewhere.

Good night! More tomorrow 🙂
