So, today I finished my proofreading markup on Starstuff. Tomorrow, I hope to finish typing in those markups, plus the two small scene rewrites that are necessary. Oh, and I also have to re-apportion my chapters. One of the Ho’s most useful notes from my first draft was that the chapters were too long. It was true. They are. Need to probably cut each of them in half…

It’s not *quite* that straightforward, though, because I actually got rid of my chapters completely during this rewrite 😛 I broke everything out into scenes instead. Hopefully that makes it easier to re-chapter everything.

A scene and a chapter are two very, very different things. A scene is something structural to the narrative…a chapter is completely arbitrary to the narrative, but crucial to the reader experience. Which is to say, sometimes chapters end right in the middle of a scene. They often end in the middle of a scene as a tactic to get a reader to turn the page and keep going. So, yeah…I’m gonna try and find every friggin cliff-hanger moment I possibly can in the book, and split up a billion chapters. Keep that pace UP.

I also podcasted with Josh tonight, and we had a couple particularly great podcasting episodes. The Trek episodes themselves were a bit lackluster, but the banter and the conversation was on point. I have so much fun doing that podcast…I really do. It’s a joy. It’s something I’m always going to be proud of. Once it’s finished 😛 That’s my next time-suck project. Editing down Seasons 2 and 3 of TG1T.

We’re 8 episodes away from finishing our original mission: to podcast each episode of the original series. After that, we’ll try and fly through the animated series, and then we’ll take our time with the movies. Maybe release the movie podcasts as we watch them. I don’t know, we’ll see what kind of time I have. That will be this summer, most likely.

Work was a slog today, unfortunately. I used my free morning hours to finish that proof-reading, and then my late morning and afternoon was consistently interrupted by building shenanigans. Sigh. Sometimes that’s the way it goes, you know? Hoping for a badass day tomorrow. Catch up on some Flix work and rocket through my narrations.

It’s 11pm, which means it’s bed time. Mwah!

Artwork tonight is by Markus Just…right???! 😮
